The band says “excitement levels at tealdeer HQ are through the roof”!

Burton band tealdeer – the self-professed producers of “Absolute Sonic Violence” and “Ominous Deer Anthems” – had a fantastic response to their recent fundraising campaign and are now busy working on their debut album, death of a deity.
Listeners were invited to help fund the album in return for rewards – such as handwritten lyrics, merch and time in the studio with the band – and did so in force, raising over £5,000 in less than two months!
Drummer Rob told the Echo it was “immense” to see backers come out “from near and far” – “from folks in continental Europe to fans in Seattle”.
“We’re also extremely grateful to the local artists (Harvey Harrison, Emily Pallett) and media (Burton Radio) that have worked with us, whether on this campaign or on previous projects.”
Phil, tealdeer’s bassist, added that while “I don’t usually speak on behalf of the band, this time I can confidently say that excitement levels at tealdeer HQ are through the roof”.
“Reaching our goal of £5,000 was a really big ask, but our fans and investors pulled it out of the bag for us and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Recording began on 5 June. The album is being produced with Audiomage at Godhand Studios, Derby, and at the time of writing, drums have been tracked a whole day early!
The band will also work on new music videos over the coming months, and hopes to release death of a deity either at the end of this year or in early 2027, at which time most rewards will be sent out to campaign backers – along with personal thank you letters.
“We are so excited to fully realise this album,” said Rob, “and that excitement only grows more as we get deeper into the recording process.”
“We truly can’t wait to share this album with everyone and we hope to see lots of faces, new and old, at the eventual release show!”
And Phil assured us that “we’re bringing our A-game to this album from every angle, from the writing to the live shows and beyond”.
“It may be the death of a deity, but tealdeer is only just beginning to run. See you at the merch stand!”

tealdeer performed a great set at last year’s Bloodstock heavy metal festival, Catton Park, after winning the grassroots-supporting ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ scheme.
They are next performing live at the Saltbox in Nottingham, for the ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ Notts final, on Saturday 27 June, then at the Corporation in Sheffield on Saturday 25 July, and at Nottingham’s Mangata Festival on Saturday 5 September.
