The pub has a lovely welcome, and serves great pints!
One of Burton’s newest (and cosiest) pubs – The Coppersmiths Inn, a reimagining of The Weighbridge Inn off Derby Street – is already among my favourites.
It is clear that a lot of work has been put into doing the pub up nicely – giving it what Ian Webster of The Beertonian describes as a “brighter, more inviting feel”.
A decent selection of well-kept beers are served, too, including from local breweries like the Tower (Glensyl Way) and 3PS (Woodville). And it’s had a good, friendly crowd of punters in every time – and, perhaps, just until! – I’ve been down.
So it’s no wonder that Landlord and Landlady Chillo and Laura say they’ve had “an amazing journey” since opening their doors on 21 March.
They told the Echo that the Ale Trail was especially good for business – and is a “fantastic happening not just for the Coppersmiths but for all pubs and bars involved, let alone for the town”.
Just after the event, Chillo and Laura certainly “enjoyed the respite”, but soon after were happy to get “back to the grind”!
The Coppersmiths Inn (Millers Lane off Derby Street, DE14 2JJ) is open Wednesday and Thursday 4-10pm, Friday and Saturday 12-11pm, and Sunday 12-7pm.
