Punters will be able to shop local and experience a unique way of life on the UK’s waterways.

Burton is set to welcome a vibrant flotilla of traders this May Bank Holiday, as the ‘Floating Market’ arrives at Shobnall Playing Fields from Saturday 2 through to Monday 4 May.
Running from 10am each day, the event promises a lively mix of independent businesses, handmade goods, and delicious food – all set against the unique backdrop of the waterways.
Visitors can expect a wide variety of traders travelling by narrowboat, bringing with them everything from crafts and artwork to gifts and street food.
Among those attending are Winty Crafts, LDK Print & Embroidery, The Ardea Candle Makers, The Coddiwomple Cake Boat, mojo-woodworks, Angry Planet, Deck O Crafts & Banana Boat Sweet Shop, Watery Art and Crafts, March Hare Emporium, Wolf Moon Trading, The Holm Oak Trading Co., and BAKED ON BOARD.
With such a diverse line-up, there will be plenty to explore.
Adding to the atmosphere, a large football tournament will also be taking place nearby, making it a busy and exciting weekend in the area for visitors of all ages.
Many of the traders are true roving businesses, living and working aboard their boats. One of them, Paul from ‘Baked on Board’, which serves wood-fired pizza from a narrowboat, shared his enthusiasm ahead of the event:
Established in 2018, we are Cheshire based but love exploring new waters and attending floating markets in new areas. We’re really looking forward to the upcoming floating markets in Burton-upon-Trent and Willington.
‘Winty Crafts,’ another (family-based) trader attending, highlighted the personal touch behind their creations:
We specialise in bespoke, hand-crafted crystal jewellery and trees of life, all made onboard our narrowboat Deltic. We also stock gemstones and crystals, perfect to start or top up your collections.
The Burton Floating Market offers a chance not only to shop local and support small businesses, but also to experience a unique way of life on the UK’s waterways. With something for everyone, it’s set to be a highlight of the Bank Holiday weekend.
The event is free to attend and open from 10am daily across all three days.
