Last year, The Footprints Family faced a difficult decision.
For many years, our school bus helped children from remote communities access education. However, worsening road conditions made journeys increasingly unsafe and costly, and we knew we needed to think differently about how best to support the children in our care.
Rather than replacing the vehicle, we made the brave decision to sell the bus and invest the funds into facilities that would create lasting opportunities for generations of children to come.
Today, that decision is making a real difference.
The investment has helped strengthen our educational environment, expand opportunities for learning and development and provide children and young people with a safer, more sustainable future.
At Footprints, every decision is guided by one question: “What will create the greatest long-term impact for the children we serve?”
This project is proof that sometimes, the bravest decisions lead to the greatest outcomes.

The Footprints Family was founded by Burtonian Kerry Watson following her 2007 volunteering trip to the East African country, which inspired her to help provide opportunities that make a positive difference to orphaned, neglected or abandoned children living in horrific situations.
