Lauren and Summer of Essential Recruitment’s Burton branch are currently training to take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise vital funds for Anti-Slavery International
On Sunday 12th April 2026, Operations Manager, Lauren and her colleague, Summer from Essential Recruitment’s Burton branch – based in Bretby Business Park, Ashby Road – will be taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise awareness and money for Anti-Slavery International.
The charity campaigns to end slavery, so that everyone can live free from exploitation. It may not sound like a modern-day issue, but shocking figures from the end of 2024 reveal that in the UK more than 19,000 slavery cases were reported to the authorities – the highest since records began. 31% of these were children and 23% British nationals.
Essential Recruitment – specialising in industrial and commercial recruitment across South Yorkshire and the Midlands – believes it has a responsibility as a labour provider to support and contribute towards the fight against modern slavery. Every year, it participates in Anti-Slavery Week to raise awareness among clients, candidates, and social media followers.
