Welcome the spring season by taking part in an array of exciting local activities, from feeding new born lambs to getting out in the countryside to arts and crafts.

Half-term is fasting approaching, so we take a look at five egg-cellent ways to keep the youngsters entertained this Easter!
1. National Trust Easter Trail at Calke Abbey
From 21st March until 12th April, visitors can join Peggy the Portland for a tour of the parkland, with 10 different spots featuring spring-themed activities to take part in. There will be a choice between a longer and shorter trail to embark on, including an accessible trail in the Stableyards and Pleasure grounds. Each trail includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears, and a dairy or vegan chocolate egg.
Celebrate the arrival of the spring season by solving riddles, playing ‘Peggy Says’, and having a go at welly wanging, in addition to spring crafts in the Riding School over the Easter weekend. Find out more here!
2. Burton Albion Community Trust Easter Football Camps
Keep the kids active from 30th March with the BACT Football Holiday Camps jam-packed with energetic drills, fun small-sided games, skills challenges, and football enjoyment galore. Suitable for players of all abilities, the sessions are designed to enable budding footballers to improve their technique, build confidence, work as a team, and have fun on the pitch. 3. Meet the New Arrivals at The National Forest Adventure Farm
Between 30th March and 10th April, the Adventure Farm will be the host of plenty of activities to keep the little ones entertained, including the Easter Eggspress tractor trailer ride up to the woodland trail to see the Easter bunny, the UK’s longest outdoor mega slide, and having the opportunity to meet the farm’s new arrivals. Also new for this year is The Sheep Show, offering an fun inside look into the traditional skill of sheep shearing and a brilliant ‘dancing’ sheep show. This is while the popular Lambing Live event has made its return, allowing families to see the birth of a spring lamb. Find out more here.
4. Learn to Ski at Swadlincote Snowsports Centre
Swadlincote Snowsports Centre’s Easter Kids Camps are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during half term, including three hours of skiing and lessons, alongside sno tubing, viper slide, and tobogganing. Kids can learn how to ski while also enjoying exciting activities. Find out more here.
5. Arbie’s i-Spy Spring Trail at the National Memorial Arboretum
Between 28th March and 12th April, visitors can follow Arbie the owl for an exploration of the Arboretum’s spring landscape, in search of beautiful blossoms, new buds, and signs of wildlife who call the land home. There is also the option for children to take part in an interactive music workshop inspired by the wonder of trees. Learn more by visiting the website.
