Three Days of Literary Fun at St Giles Hospice Shops for World Book Day

St Giles Hospice’s Burton, Ashby, Lichfield, and Mere Green bookshops are celebrating World Book Day between Thursday 5th March and Saturday 7th March, with a delightful focus on children’s reading

Young bookworms are invited to enjoy three days of literary fun at St Giles Hospice bookshops to mark World Book Day.

Up until Saturday 7th March, the shops will be drawing special attention to their children’s sections and offering three children’s books for the price of two, encouraging families to discover new stories and revisit beloved favourites. The event aims to spark a love for reading while helping to keep books affordable and accessible for local families.

Additionally, young visitors who arrive dressed as their favourite book character will receive a small sweet treat from the shop teams, bringing a little extra magic to the occasion.

The initiative follows the success of last year’s World Book Day celebrations, where children flocked to the shops in costume and embraced the joys of the literary world.

Nicola Brannen-Mott, Deputy Head of Retail at St Giles Hospice, said: “Last year it was wonderful to see so many children excited about books and eager to try something new. We loved seeing the creativity in their outfits and hearing about their favourite characters.

“World Book Day is a lovely opportunity to celebrate reading and help make books accessible to families in our community. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone again this year.”

St Giles Hospice offers specialist palliative and end-of-life care at no cost to people living with terminal illnesses across Staffordshire, North Birmingham, and surrounding areas. The funds raised through its network of charity shops help make this vital care possible.
