Volunteers Wanted at Staffordshire Police

Staffordshire Police is seeking volunteers to help its team keep the county safe

Volunteers play a key role at Staffordshire Police – They allow an important connection between the police force and local communities.

Staffordshire Police is made up of around 3,500 colleagues, including 1,987 officers, alongside community support officers, police staff, and volunteers. The police force operates across Staffordshire’s 1,000 square miles – including Burton, Tamworth, Stoke-on-Trent, and Cannock – home to more more than 1.1 million residents.

For those who aspire to work in the police, Staffordshire Police has a series of volunteering opportunities available, where individuals can support their local force and make a difference in their community, as well as boost their CV. Some of these roles include Special Constable, Police Support, Police Cadet, Community Speed Watch, and Independent Advisory Group Member.

Those aged between 13 and 17 years old may wish to become a Cadet, as an exciting new challenge and to experience a front row seat to what it’s like to be a police officer. Cadets get to delve into learning more about their local police force, whilst contributing toward improving their area, with duties including working as a team and learning teambuilding skills, gaining insight into the different policing sectors, attending weekly meetings, taking part in community events and fundraising activities, completing training and drills, and helping to promote crime prevention initiatives.

Staffordshire Police has a number of Cadet bases situated across the county – in Burton, Burslem, Cannock, Leek, Lichfield, Longton, Newcastle, Stafford, and Tamworth – where Cadets attend a weekly session and complete the National Volunteer Police Cadet Programme, led by Cadet Leaders and the Cadet Leader Unit Commander.
