Burton Charity Offers Local Businesses Volunteering Opportunities in Kenya.

A Burton-based charity that supports vulnerable children in Kenya is inviting local businesses to take part in hands-on volunteering programmes that benefit both communities and company teams.

When Kerry Watson founded The Footprints Family 17 years ago, she was motivated by her personal experience of adoption and a desire to help vulnerable children in Kenya access education and healthcare. Today, Footprints Kenya supports over 160 children and families with schooling, medical care, and food assistance.

The charity now offers corporate volunteering opportunities for local businesses looking to develop their teams while making a tangible difference abroad.

Watson believes that corporate social responsibility should go further than financial donations. Volunteering trips to Kenya allow employees to experience a different culture firsthand and understand the daily challenges faced by communities living in poverty.

The most common feedback we hear is that it’s life-changing. Staff come back with a new perspective, stronger teamwork skills, and a greater appreciation for what we can achieve when we work together.

A Burton-based company sent a team to Footprints last year, and the feedback highlighted the lasting impact on staff morale and development.

One team member said: “The experience completely changed how we see the world. It opened our eyes to wider global issues. Our staff returned with new skills, stronger bonds, and a real sense of purpose. It wasn’t just good for the charity – it was good for our business too.

Another added: “It was the best investment in team development we’ve ever made, and knowing we contributed to such an inspiring charity made it even more worthwhile.

The Footprints Family is open to partnerships with businesses through structured volunteering programmes, project sponsorship, or long-term collaborations.
