Tutbury apprentice makes the cut for UK final of top hair and beauty awards

Millie’s salon director says her “hard work, passion and dedication are shining through”.

A 17-year-old apprentice from Tutbury is celebrating after being recognised as a finalist at the Official UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2026.

Millie Field is in the second year of her apprenticeship at KH Hair – 36 High Street, Tutbury – and has been shortlisted in the ‘Trainee of the Year’ category, representing Burton. She is deservedly over the moon!

I entered just to give it my best shot, but never dreamed I’d get anywhere. To be in the finals has made me so happy. To win would be amazing and I’m keeping everything crossed for the final.

Millie’s salon director, Beckie Maznenko, is incredibly proud.

Being shortlisted for Trainee of the Year is such an amazing achievement and so well deserved.

Millie’s hard work, passion and dedication are shining through and I’m sure this is only the beginning for her. Keep believing in yourself Millie! We’re all so proud of you.

Millie says she is “really looking forward to qualifying later this year”, after which she will take part in more training courses, “so I can really offer a great experience and end result to all my wonderful clients”. She dreams of one day owning her own salon.

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards are widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the hair and beauty industry. Millie will find out if she’s a winner at the official awards ceremony, which will be held at the AO Arena, Manchester, on Saturday 15 August.
