Hoar Cross Care Home Celebrates Dignity Action Day

The Hoar Cross Care Home community have adorned their Dignity Tree in messages of what dignity means to them

Hoar Cross Care Home has created a beautiful Dignity Tree in light of Dignity Action Day, featuring an array of inspiring personal messages about what dignity means to each individual member of the care home community.

Everyone came together to discuss their unique thoughts on dignity, to be written down on a purple heart and hung proudly on the tree’s branches. The notes included “Having pride in ourselves”, “Preserving independence and ensuring self-worth”, and “Treating others with courtesy”. Each message stands for a commitment to upholding the values that matter most in every day care – how people are spoken to, how they are supported, and the respect that they deserve.

The care home’s efforts to mark Dignity Action Day didn’t end there. Because dignity is also about feeling good in yourself, the day was rounded off with some self-care in the form of a pamper session, including painting residents’ nails in a striking purple shade, all with a focus on wellbeing, confidence, and feeling good.

Louise McAllister-Fairley Deputy Manager said: “At Hoar Cross Care Home, Dignity Action Day wasn’t just an awareness moment it was a heartfelt reflection of who we strive to be: a place where people are supported, surrounded by a community that cares.”

The Dignity Tree has become an eye-catching, positive symbol of Hoar Cross Care Home’s shared priority: a living reminder that dignity should be weaved throughout every interaction, every day.

Hoar Cross Care Home is a sanctuary for peace and quiet in the serene Staffordshire countryside, amidst three acres of picturesque landscaped gardens comprising a koi carp pond, patios, woodland, and a summer house.
