Share Your Positive Story in Issue 2 of the Burton Echo, Winter Edition, out 6 Dec.

The Burton Echo is preparing for its Winter Edition and we want to hear from you. Whether you are a local artist, charity, business, band, club, community group or initiative, if you have a positive story to tell, we would love to share it.

You can now submit stories directly through the Article Request tab on our website. Submissions will be supported online and many will also feature in our forthcoming print edition.

The Winter Edition will be completely self-funded and will see 3,000 copies distributed across Burton, Swadlincote and surrounding villages. This special 40-page issue will be available in newsagents, shops, restaurants, barbers, pubs, petrol stations, sports grounds and supermarkets from 6th December.

As a celebration of the year and the festive season, the Winter Edition will cover our regular sections: Community Spirit, Heritage, Sport, Music, Health & Fitness, Dining Out, and Events & Entertainment. We are also making a renewed commitment to include voices from every part of our community, whatever your age, background or identity. This can only be achieved with the support of local people submitting their stories and sharing the variety of experiences that make Burton such a vibrant place.

Alongside community stories, there are also opportunities for local businesses to promote themselves in this special edition. Pricing to place an advert is now available under the Advertise With Us tab. Packages include print placements as well as promotion on our new website and across our social media channels, offering excellent value and visibility.

Artwork Deadline: 13 Nov 2025

We were overwhelmed by the positive responses from the public and local businesses. There was a genuinely emotional reaction from people when they realised there was not a single line of negativity in the pages of the paper. Many said it was something so needed during such an uncertain time both locally and internationally, where news and social media channels seem so obsessed with click-bait negative stories. During my time at Burton Radio over the last two years I was blown away by the sheer volume of people contributing to society without a mention in the media, as well as the standard of artists reaching ears across the world. We live in a really inspiring community. With so much doom-scroll negativity it can be hard for the positive stories to break through and be heard, and that is something we want to change in our own small way.

Issue 2 of the Burton Echo, Winter Edition, will once again celebrate the good news of our community. With your input, this issue will be filled with uplifting stories that reflect the talent, generosity and spirit of Burton, Swadlincote and the surrounding villages as we head towards Christmas.
