Burton & District Mind Nears Fundraising Goal for Face the World Project.

A powerful new community project that celebrates mental health, neurodiversity, and creativity is within touching distance of becoming a reality. Burton & District Mind is just £1,300 away from launching Face the World, a 16-week programme designed to help people with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and other neurodiverse traits build confidence and express themselves through performance.

The project, delivered in partnership with Shoebox Theatre, blends psychoeducation with drama and performance to support participants in improving their wellbeing and social connections.

Keri Lawrence, Development and Sustainability Officer at Burton & District Mind, explained:

Burton & District Mind are working with Shoebox Theatre on a new and exciting approach using a blend of psychoeducation, drama and performance to help people in Tamworth in just this situation. Funded by Tamworth Borough Council and crowdfunding, we will provide 16 weeks of expert support and facilitation, which will lead to people feeling better within themselves, having better social connections and friendships as they meet their ‘tribe’. We will build their confidence to face the world.

The course will culminate in a special live performance created and performed by the participants, offering audiences a chance to experience their unique voices and personal stories.

To make Face the World possible, Burton & District Mind is appealing to local residents, businesses, and community groups to help raise the final £1,300 needed. Businesses that contribute will receive recognition on social media and the organisation’s website, along with a public thank-you highlighting the social value of their support.

Donations can be made through the project’s crowdfunding page here.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help bring the project to life and empower people to face the world with greater confidence and connection.
