Summer fair raises £879 for Hoar Cross Nursing & Care Home residents

One of the afternoon’s highlights was a highly competitive management egg-and-spoon race!

Residents, families, friends and members of the local community recently came together for an afternoon of traditional summer fun at Hoar Cross Care & Nursing Home, raising an impressive £879 for the Residents’ Fund.

The home’s Summer Fair was organised jointly by the team at Hoar Cross and its League of Friends, which brings together relatives of current and former residents, as well as friends and supporters from the wider community. The event was a great success, with visitors enjoying a packed programme of games, entertainment, stalls and delicious food in the home’s garden.

One of the afternoon’s highlights was a highly competitive management egg-and-spoon race. Members of the management team put their coordination to the test as residents, colleagues and visitors cheered them on from the sidelines. The race created plenty of laughter and helped set the fun and friendly tone for the day.

Guests were also treated to a freshly prepared barbecue, while stalls offered everything from colourful garden plants to delicious homemade preserves. The traditional lucky dip proved particularly popular, and excitement grew as the winning raffle tickets were drawn.

A local choir provided the perfect musical backdrop to the celebrations, creating a relaxed and uplifting atmosphere for residents and their guests to enjoy throughout the afternoon.

The Summer Fair was organised not only as an opportunity for people to spend time together but also to raise money for the residents’ fund. The fund supports additional activities, entertainment and special experiences for those who make Hoar Cross Care & Nursing Home their home.

Manager Fiona Kersey said “we are absolutely delighted with the success of our Summer Fair”.

It was wonderful to see residents, families, team members and people from the local community enjoying themselves together. The management egg-and-spoon race certainly brought out everyone’s competitive side and created lots of laughter! We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated prizes, ran a stall, bought raffle tickets or helped make the day possible.

Raising £879 is a fantastic achievement, and every penny will go towards creating more enjoyable experiences and happy memories for our residents.

The team at Hoar Cross Nursing & Care Home extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone whose kindness, generosity and support helped make the Summer Fair such a memorable occasion.
